In July 2024 I attended Into Games Advanced Narrative Design Sprint with Kim MacAskill (Playstation, Riot Games). Below you’ll find the completed portfolio from that course as well as feedback from Kim and Mark Ginbey (FuturLab).

I landed on using a spec game concept, We Got Ghosts, as a through line for the tasks. While this was a good foundation, my aim was always to respond to brief for the tasks. The final project is not meant to be a game design document but a writing portfolio with some connective elements. I thoroughly enjoyed the process and working alongside fellow writers especially in our smaller huddle groups. It was a great experience, offering and receiving feedback in a peer group.

I immediately got a sense of Kai and what he is up against. Extra points for thinking of audio and animation when considering their mannerisms too. Great work! – Kim MacAskill

Love this! There’s so much potential in this idea. So many interesting angles to explore. It’s a new take on an old idea that feels fresh and engaging. It’s a cool concept, and there’s some wonderful writing in there. – Mark Ginbey
