Bark! Bark! Bark!

Messing around with barks in different genres and use cases. Will likely keep this post updated as I play around with different styles.

Green Zone – spec open world RPG

After A.I has taken over large sections of New York, the island of Manhattan is shut off from the rest of the world, unplugging it from the ‘Grid’. Citizens of Manhattan have retried into ‘green zones’, small communities living off the land as best they can in an urban environment. Our main protagonist and player, will have to navigate the dangerous A.I controlled zones and move between green zones, picking up jobs. Players can take on the role of a Merc (tank), Mech (utility) and Medics (support).

These barks are written for a Merc arriving in The Parks, a green zone in Central Park. To allow for responsiveness based on player actions and quests completed before arrival at The Parks, I’ve arranged the barks into three (very persciptive!) alignment categories, as well as including general world building barks that may pique the player’s interest to explore different narrative threads. The alginment categories are very linear but serve as a starting point before further development and refinement.

Six Shooters – spec match three mobile game

The following barks are from a spec mobile game called Six Shooters. In this match three mobile game, players take on the role of gunslingers with matches being themed around shootouts, gallerias and good old fashioned dawn duels.

Using this skeleton vaquero character concept art as inspiration, the barks have been written for them. Based on the listed game trigger, a random bark can be played intermittently through gameplay.
